Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)

arry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban is the third movie in the series. I think the Harry Potter movies keep getting more thrilling and adventurous with each movie. In this installment Harry goes back to Hogwarts for his third year and finds there is a guy named Sirus Black who has escaped from Azkaban, the wizard prison. After some strong investigation and feisty snoopery Harry discovers that Sirus Black is his godfather, and while everyone thinks he is partly responsible for his parents death, Harry has to try and save his life because he finds out that Sirus is really a nice guy. Harry also must try and win the Quiddich match and figure out what is up with that nice new "Dark Arts" Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkabanprofessor Lupin.

Harry also has to try and keep his friendships strong with battle demontors without getting killed, while still going to classes such as Professor Severus Snapes "horrible potions" class. Hermione punches Draco Malfoy in the face in this movie because he insults her and calls her a mud blood and Ron learns a new word, "shut-up", which he constantly uses on Draco.

The things that I enjoyed about this film were that the new Albus Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) is cool. He's not trying to be exactly like the original actor Richard Harris. He is just trying to be Dumbledore but still with respect for the way Harris originally portrayed him. I liked that Ron and Hermione kind of hate each other but also kind of like each other too, and that they fight about their pets the whole time. It's hilarious.

I also like how the movies follow the books and the kids get older with each movie. It is interesting that Professor Flitwick just disappeared and that they keep getting a new “Defense Against the Dark Arts” teacher. It must be difficult for them to find the ideal teacher. The part were Harry, Hermione and Ron go into the shrieking shack is one of the scariest scenes in this, the third movie. The scene where Professor Trelawney somehow becomes entranced is also very scary. When she is in her trance she starts acting all crazy and it gives you this feeling that she is about to kill Harry. I enjoyed that Hedwig is still in the movie. I wonder how they get that bird to follow all the instructions? I thought it was cool that Hermione gets Crookshanks and that they used one of those grumpy, fluffy looking cats. I also liked how Harry gets in touch with his teen anger but maybe a little too much.

I thought it was really sad that Richard Harris died before this movie was made. I missed him a lot. There were a couple of things I didn't like about this movie. One thing is that Harry starts acting kind of evil. He has a dark side that you didn’t really see much of in the earlier movies. I also wish that Dudley Dursley had a bigger part because I think he is hilarious.

The moral of this movie is don't just judge people by what the public says about them. Sirus Black is actually a cool dude even though everyone said he was a murdering, raving, lunatic. Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban is a very touching film and audiences all over the universe will enjoy it.
